Why do you require a signed liability waiver?

We require a signed liability waiver to ensure all participants acknowledge the risks of attending a beach bonfire. This confirms compliance with local safety regulations, including alcohol and noise restrictions. By signing, you accept responsibility and agree to follow guidelines for a safe and enjoyable event.

Is there a cap on attendance for Bonfires?

Yes. If your bonfire exceeds 24 people, the Town of Dewey Beach requires an Events Permit in addition to the Bonfire Permit. This adds $50 to the cost.

How long is my bonfire?

Bonfires can start as early as 5:30pm and must be cleaned up by 11pm, per town regulations. We typically wrap up by 10:30pm.

Can I bring food or party decorations to my bonfire?

Yes! You're welcome to bring decorations and food, but you're responsible for setup and cleanup. We also offer add-ons like chairs, ambient lighting, and games.

Can my dog come to my bonfire?

Yes. Dogs are allowed after 5pm but must have a Dewey Beach license. Be sure to clean up after them to avoid fines.

Can I drink alcohol on the beach?

Alcohol and glass containers are strictly prohibited on the beach between May 15 and September 15.

Can I have a band perform at my bonfire?

No, live bands and performances are not allowed on the beach in Dewey Beach at any time.

Can I purchase firewood from you?

Wood is included with your bonfire booking. We do not sell wood separately.

Do you travel outside Dewey Beach?

No. Our services are limited to within the town limits of Dewey Beach.

Why do you need my email and phone number?

We use email to manage all pre-bonfire correspondence. Phone numbers are only used on the day of your event to help us locate you on the beach.

What do I do after submitting a deposit or booking online?

You must arrive at the start time confirmed by email. We cannot leave bonfires unattended and often manage multiple events in one evening.

What if I need to cancel?

You must notify us at least 36 hours before your scheduled bonfire to receive a refund. Same-day cancellations and no-shows are non-refundable.

What if I need to reschedule?

We can accommodate rescheduling based on availability. We'll work with you if your original location or time is already booked.

What if there is bad weather?

We offer refunds or rescheduling if you notify us in advance. If you choose to proceed despite bad weather and it rains, we cannot offer a refund.

How much does a Dewey Beach bonfire cost?

Are Dewey Beach bonfires private or shared?

Bonfires are held on public beaches, but your reservation is fully private. If you book a location, it’s yours for the evening.

Do you offer corporate bonfire events or team-building nights?

Yes. We provide private bonfires for companies and teams with full setup and optional extras. From small groups to large events, we make it memorable.

How do your Dewey Beach bonfire rentals work?

Why Do You Need to Sign This Waiver?

At Dewey Beach Bonfires, safety is our top priority. While we take every precaution to create a fun and secure experience, bonfire events involve inherent risks, including open flames, changing weather conditions, and public beach environments.

This Liability Waiver ensures that participants understand and accept these risks, follow local regulations, and comply with safety guidelines. By signing, you acknowledge that you assume responsibility for your participation and agree to follow all local ordinances, including rules regarding alcohol consumption and noise limits.

To participate in a bonfire event, the group leader must complete and sign this form on behalf of all attendees. Minors under 14 must be accompanied by a legal guardian.

This Waiver and Release of Liability ('Waiver') is executed by the undersigned ('Participant') in favor of DBSS LLC, its owners, employees, affiliates, and agents (collectively, 'Company').

ASSUMPTION OF RISK I, the undersigned, acknowledge that participating in a bonfire activity involves inherent risks, including but not limited to burns, fire hazards, smoke inhalation, respiratory irritation, trip-and-fall hazards, and weather-related risks. I voluntarily assume all such risks, whether known or unknown, and agree to participate at my own risk. Additionally, I understand that risks may arise from factors outside the control of DBSS LLC, including but not limited to:
Disorderly or unruly behavior of other beachgoers, including intoxicated individuals.
Sudden changes in weather, such as high winds, storms, tidal surges, flooding, or lightning.
Potential wildlife encounters, including marine life (jellyfish, crabs, etc.) or other animals.
Actions of third parties, including accidents or disturbances caused by non-participants.
Equipment malfunction due to natural wear and tear or unforeseen conditions.
Government or law enforcement actions, including beach closures or regulatory changes.
RELEASE OF LIABILITY In consideration of being allowed to participate in the bonfire event, I hereby waive, release, and discharge DBSS LLC, its owners, employees, affiliates, and agents from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, or expenses, including injury, property damage, or wrongful death, whether caused by ordinary negligence or gross negligence, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
INDEMNIFICATION I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless DBSS LLC from any claims, lawsuits, liabilities, or expenses, including legal fees, arising from my participation in the bonfire event, except in cases of willful misconduct by DBSS LLC.
SAFETY GUIDELINES AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES I agree to follow all safety guidelines and staff instructions, including but not limited to: • Keeping a safe distance from the fire. • Avoiding handling flammable materials near the fire. • Ensuring children under 14 are supervised by a legal guardian. • Reporting any fire hazards or emergencies to staff immediately. Additionally, I acknowledge that I have reviewed the FAQ page at deweybeachbonfires.com and agree to comply with all local laws and ordinances, including but not limited to: • No alcohol consumption at the event. • Adherence to noise limitations and beach conduct regulations.
GOVERNING LAW This Waiver shall be governed by and construed under the laws of the State of Delaware. Any disputes arising from this agreement shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of Delaware.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT AND SIGNATURE By signing below, I acknowledge that I have read and fully understand this Waiver, and I voluntarily agree to its terms. I understand that I am giving up substantial legal rights by signing this document.

It's amazing to show up on the beach and it's all ready. We show up and have a great time. Every. Year. Dewey Beach Surf Shop's bonfire experience is outstanding. We had the best time at our bonfire! The weather was iffy but DBSS did a great job of communicating through out the week and day leading up. We took our chances with the weather and it ended up being a beautiful night. The process was easy from start to finish- def recommend renting chairs so you don’t have to worry about anything! Tyler had it all set up and ready to go for us. My only complaint is that our fun night had to end!!! 10/10 recommend booking a bonfire with DBSS! You won’t regret it.
